One week left to share something extra with our missionaries this Christmas via the Christmas Gift Fund.

Voice of Hope

Voice of Hope is a non-political, non-profit project that aims to give orphans and vulnerable children a voice, hope, and future by providing basic needs (food, clothes, education, medication, shelter). Voice of Hope also endeavours to provide needy widows with food and shelter to empower them through training in tailoring, small business, and modern horticulture, mobilise widows to form groups where they can create and look for local solutions to address their needs, and organise loan schemes for widows and women.

West Pokot

The Pokot are a resilient community with strong cultural traditions, including early initiation rites and a deep reliance on livestock for livelihood and marriage. Ongoing conflict with neighbouring groups over cattle has led to frequent raids, the loss of many lives, and rising numbers of widows and orphans. Many families live in poverty with limited access to basic services. Shelter of Hope supports the Pokot by providing essential food, clean water and practical care, helping to meet urgent needs and bring stability to vulnerable households in this underdeveloped and often overlooked region.

Local Agriculture

In some of the most vulnerable areas, we run a feeding program that provides hot porridge and food packs. For many children, this is their only meal of the day—and it’s making a huge difference. We’ve seen participation in school and community activities increase by up to 60% in some places. Alongside this, we teach simple farming methods, helping families use their own land, rain, and sunshine to grow food. Our poultry farming project is also thriving—we recently brought in 400 one-day-old chicks. In just 4 to 6 months, they’ll be ready for laying or eating, and in the meantime, we use the farm as a live training site where people can learn by doing.

Skills Training

We love sharing practical ideas that make a lasting impact. One of our favourite examples is our bread-making workshop, where we teach locals how to bake using simple ovens fired by local wood. It’s low-cost, effective, and always surprises people with what’s possible. These small-scale innovations, along with our training in farming, tailoring, welding, and poultry keeping, are helping families put food on the table and generate income. Through it all, our goal is to equip people with skills, confidence, and hope for a better future.

Ebenezer Christian School

Ebenezer Christian School began in 2000 as a community response to the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children. Since then, we’ve grown into a school offering both primary and lower secondary education to over 450 students. While we operate as a private institution, we work hard to remain accessible. Many of our families face financial challenges, so we offer flexible fee arrangements—including in-kind contributions like maize, firewood or labour. This helps ensure that no child is left out simply because of cost. We believe education should be within reach for every child, regardless of their background.

Over the years, we’ve gradually developed our facilities to better support learning and wellbeing. From an initial four classrooms, the school has grown to fourteen, and now includes a science lab, computer room, and library. We also provide playgrounds and sports areas, and have introduced indoor games like badminton. Our boarding facilities are improving too, and we’re upgrading sanitation so that students with physical disabilities are properly supported. To help families in rural areas, we run a school transport service, and with enrolments increasing, we’re working toward adding another vehicle.

We value academic learning, but we also place importance on responsibility, creativity and practical skills. Our students are involved in co-curricular activities like music, sport and drama, and help with daily tasks such as cleaning and assisting with meals. We hold student elections each year to promote leadership and ownership. Some of our students have gone on to excel at national level schools, while others have entered college or vocational training. Our long-term goal is to offer senior secondary and trade-based programs, so that our learners are equipped not only for exams, but for life beyond the classroom.
