One week left to share something extra with our missionaries this Christmas via the Christmas Gift Fund.

Stella School

Stella School's vision is to provide quality Christian education that is affordable and accessible to all in Rwanda, especially those who would not otherwise attend school due to poverty and lack of opportunity. Instead of going to school, these children spend their time fetching food from door to door. Of the children who do get a chance to go to school, they must travel long distances, and many end up dropping out. Orphans remain uneducated due to lack of appropriate care and follow up.

Educational Challenges in Rwanda

Rwanda is one of the smallest countries in Africa. Its economy is based mostly on subsistence agriculture by local farmers using simple tools. In 2023, the population of Rwanda was estimated to be over 14 million, with a density among the highest in Africa – 512 people per square kilometre. As the population increases, land for agriculture decreases. One of the country’s strategies to upgrading economically is to emphasize the education sector as a way to fight illiteracy, build capacity, and encourage a sustainable economy.

Vision & Mission

Stella Schools seeks to provide leading schools across Rwanda, nurturing future leaders with academic excellence by delivering high-quality bilingual education that ignites intellectual curiosity and empowers students to reach their full potential. We foster a caring and supportive environment where students learn empathy and respect for others. We are dedicated to academic excellence and the holistic development of each student. We encourage students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and express themselves confidently. We value collaboration and partnerships with parents, teachers, and the community to create a nurturing learning environment.

Educational Philosophy

We believe in fostering a love of learning within a safe, inclusive environment. We will integrate the Rwandan Naonal Curriculum with a focus on:

  • Active Learning: Students will engage in hands-on activies, project-based learning, and exercises that encourage crical thinking.

  • Individualized Instruction: We recognize the diverse learning needs of each student and will cater to these needs through personalized instruction.

  • Holistic Development: We emphasise the intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical growth of each student.

  • Cultural Awareness: Students will develop an appreciation for Rwandan culture and gain a broader understanding of the global community.

Primary School

The Primary School is situated in the Village of Kigese, Sector of Rugalika, District of Kamonyi, in the Southern Province of Rwanda. Kigese is located 15 kilometres from Kigali. It is desired that two additional blocks be purchased to expand the recreation area and house the teacher accommodation block. The project will continue to add a Secondary School on land already purchased.
